Popular “Zanku” crooner, Omoniyi Raphael aka Zlatan, has been freed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). On the other hand, fellow suspect Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley is still being detained by the anti-graft agency.
Zlatan was released alongside his crew members, Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa on administrative bail.
According to EFCC spokesman on why Naira Marley wasn’t released with the others, Tony Orilade said;
There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others.
That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted. Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon.
Recall Naira Marley, Zlatan and three others were arrested by the anti-graft agency on Friday, May 10, 2019 but after five days in detention, Zlatan and his crew members were released courtesy of Burna Boy and rapper, Olamide’s help.
This is good news for Zlatan and the others but I hope this serves as a lesson for them and stay away from anything that will tarnish their images. As for Naira Marley, you are a budding musician with a bright future; the younger generation looks up to you and as a public figure, more is expected of you. Next time, if you are a giving your two cents on an issue that affects the society, I hope you’d be more sensitive.
We really hope that EFCC tempers justice with mercy. These are talented young men who have contributed a lot to the entertainment industry.
