Yesterday was Father’s Day and while there were many tributes flying around, there was also shade… the biggest probably came from Yvonne Nelson.
The actress took to Social media to hit out at Dads whom she felt weren’t being in their child’s life and she went on to say that men who have not put in the work to deserve to be called fathers cannot lay claim to the day.
She typed this on Twitter: “To the men, if you arent TRULY ready to be in a child’s life, F*cking protect yourselves, you are the reason for so many broken families and kids out there! A man’s world??? Today isnt your day if you havnt put in any work!”

Naturally she got a lot of stick from male commenters and a lot of support from female commenters which has of course perpetuated the long running gender war that has consumed the world of social media of the last couple of years.
One of the comments that followed this particular outburst, said: “Yet when we celebrate mothers day. We celebrate all mothers regardless of how much they contribute to the table. Some woman are also the reason for broken homes. Don’t generalize the effect. This is total disrespect to Fathers. Everyone deserve to be celebrated”
Yvonne Nelson has never been one who is shy to air her views and even on this matter she countered the dissenters by asking why they were angered by her tweets.
“You are sooo angry with my tweets, why tho? Did i describe you??? You aint responsible right?? You are pained?? F’ that! Father’s day is not for you!”
It does seem a bit unfortunate that both sexes see each other as the enemy and choose to bicker continuously, at the end of the day, we’re all human.
