Yahoo boys are the reason why #EndSARS sounds like a joke to the government – Singer Jire

Following the recent frenzy caused by popular Nigerian rapper, Naira Marley on social media, after he endorsed the hard work of internet fraudsters also known as “Yahoo boys”, a colleague in the music industry has reacted to the statement as he expressed his dissatisfaction at the comment.

Budding Nigerian singer, Jire, took to his Twitter page to state how the affairs of these cyber criminals make the #EndSARS campaign look like a joke to the Nigerian government, hence the reason why the government hasn’t scrapped the arm of the Nigerian Police Force.

Jire tweeted,

These Yahoo boys are the reason why #EndSars sounds like a joke to the government!

For those of you who still haven’t caught up with what Naira Marley said, don’t panic, we got you covered.

The Nigerian rapper during an Instagram live session urged Nigerians to pray for internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) saying they are the reason money circulates to the common man.

He said;

All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?

You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys.

The money will go like this, from Obasanjo to Tinubu, from Tinubu to Mr Japa, you think me I need Yahoo?

I make money from my music.

The statement has since stirred reactions from Nigerians who described Marley as a disgrace and bad example to young Nigerians.

I am standing with Jire on this one and I really feel Naira Marley needs to do better if not as a celebrity but as a citizen by encouraging younger Nigerians and even those who are striving to succeed without walking the illegal path, given that these people also consume his music. We all need to stand against these fraudsters and flush them out!
