The year is moving fast, the Nigerian Entertainment Industry is recording its success and artists are getting deals.
Wizkid has proven to be one artiste that has come to stay and to help put Nigeria on the map which he has been doing for the longest time, but so far in 2019, he slowed down a bit and his fans started asking when he will grace our TV screens. So he teased us a little with the artwork and mute sound of his forthcoming fourth studio album, Joro.
He didn’t stop there, he has so far collaborated on few songs with industry mates in Nigeria but fans were glamouring for more, then the biggest collaboration in the history of Nigerian Music came along, Boom!!! Just like that, we saw Wizkid with Beyonce on one of her songs of The Gift Album, titled “Brown Skin Girl” and there was calm from his fans. The hype is high and the buzz is on…..listen to the song and let us what you think!
Just when we thought we have seen it all from Wizkid, and await his yet to be released album! He showed us that, he’s more than what we think.
On the 24th of July, 2019, he sealed a deal with the United Bank Of Africa otherwise known as UBA as a brand ambassador. He took to his Instagram and fan page respectively to share the news with his fans and has since been getting lots of congratulatory messages.
While we are to know the nature of this deal, his life catching experience he shared while addressing the guests when he officially announced the deal at an event yesterday, he said;
“When you’re talking about crime in this country, it is a deeper conversation than just making a song insulting the yahoo yahoo boys, I wouldn’t want to be that kind of a person, but the kind of person I want to be is to lead by example and actually show these kids out there that you can make it. I cannot stand here to tell you I made 250 thousand naira when I started, but here we are discussing amazing numbers. All I can do for myself is to continue to be successful and touch many lives as I can and hope every kid out there, looks at this and emulate that and also wants to be great. You are not going to change anything by singing a song saying yahoo yahoo, no! You just have to inspire these kid and show them that there’s hope.”
Some fans who should be inspired, have linked it to the Nigerian controversial artiste, Naira Marley due to his arrest and the song by the said artiste he titled “Am I A Yahoo Boy”, and as such, reacted to it from some comments gathered from Wizkid’s Instagram page;
UBA also made the announcement via their official Instagram page, welcoming Wizkid to the family. The post reads;
“ Introducing our newest brand ambassador, Ayodeji Balogun, the one and only Starboy aka @wizkidayo. Welcome to the tribe. #Wizlion #WeCallItATribe #AfricasGlobalBank #UBAMarketplace19.
Neither of the artists has responded, either to clear the air from Wizkid or Naira Marley on a savagery response.
Congratulations Wizkid and his Management team!!!
