Media mogul, Tyler Perry who only recently got his star on the Hollywood walk of fame, has dazzled people with his jaw dropping $250m studios sitting on 330 acres of land.
The site is so impressive that as DuVernay tweeted, “The studio lots of Disney, Warner Bros, Paramount, Fox and Sony could fit inside Tyler Perry’s studio lot at the same time – and there would still be 60 acres to spare,”
The actor, Director and Producer is very proud of this achievement with the grand opening which held on the 5th of October, a star-studded event that had the who’s who of African Americans in the entertainment industry.
The studio features 12 different sound stages named after black icons such as Oprah Winfrey and Spike Lee and sets for a courtrooms, correctional facilities, a replica of the oval office and even a version of the suburbs.
The opening event had the likes of former President Bill Clinton and Hilary Clinton in attendance and celebrities like Will and Jada Smith, T.I., Ludacris and many others.
In an interview with Gayle King, Tyler Perry claimed that he is ignored by Hollywood. King had referenced an article in the New York Times that argued that Tyler Perry is the most successful filmmaker being ignored by the Movie industry. When asked if he felt he was being ignored and if so why, Perry opined that he is ignored because the kinds of stories he wants to tell doesn’t exactly tally with the ones that Hollywood is used to.
He also elaborated on how he feels he has impacted society, pointing out that he hires a large number of African-American employees and that he has been able to impact their lives and also thoroughly represent different races and sexuality in his movies.
