Hollywood legend Whoopi Goldberg was nowhere to be found earlier this year and while some attributed that to a small break, it turned out that it was much worse.

The Sister Act actress had a horrible health scare, developing pneumonia in both her lungs with the fluids having to be removed on frequent occasions.

As she revealed later, Whoopi Goldberg also had sepsis, a deadly condition caused by the body’s response to an infection which could also lead to organ failure.

This isn’t the first time that a major celebrity has opened up about a health scare with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke also talking about her brain aneurism a few months back.

The actress who is popular for her stint on ‘The View’ had to make a lot of schedule changes due to her health including cutting down her appearance on the show to four times a week.

Speaking to People magazine, Whoopi Goldberg admonished people to take their health seriously, “I’ve cut down a lot of the stuff that I would normally be doing and I have to rest,” she says. “There’s no getting around it. In the morning I go and do the show, then afterward I have my other work, and by 3 o’clock, I have to sit down. I have to stop. It’s taking a little while, but I’m getting there.”

I hope that this is a cautionary tale for people. You have to take the time to take care of yourself. I’m lucky to be alive. I’m happy to be alive.”

Whoopi Goldberg has been a stalwart on the view since 2007 and might be thinking of doing a few different things moving forward.

In an interview with ET Online, she said: Ten years is a long time, and now I’m starting to do other stuff. I’m doing books. I’m adventuring into THC products. I’m creating the clothes.

We’re just glad that Whoopi Goldberg is okay and will inhabit the earth with us for a little while longer.
