The Set Up starring Adesua Etomi

Summer time generally means blockbusters and one look at the trailer for the Set Up starring Jim Iyke and Adesua Etomi shows that the movie means business.

The movie follows Chike (Adesua Etomi-Wellington), a young operative for a shadowy organization who is hired by Jim Iyke’s character to help him get married to a wealthy heiress (Dakore Egbuson-Akande).

The plan seems to be for the client (Jim Iyke) to marry the wealthy heiress (Dakore Egbuson-Akande)  so as to take control over her father’s bank after he passed away suddenly at the age of 60.

Things spiral out of control as Chike is drawn deeper and deeper into the clandestine world of socialites.

The movie was written by Chinaza Onuzo (The Arbitration, The Wedding Party 2, New Money and Up North) and Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan (The Arbitration, The Wedding Party 2 and Chief Daddy)

It would be out in cinemas in August.

Adesua Etomi has been trying her hands on more and more action roles which have tasked her physically. Only recently she was in the highly anticipated ‘Muna’ a story about a hitman (woman) who was trafficked and found love.

The movie also stars Onyeka Onwenu, Falz, Ebele Okaro, Andrew Onochie, Ikpomwosa Gold, Kor Boakye, Charles Osiegbu, Steve Wilder, Adam Huss, Robert Miano, and Camille Winbush.

In an interview with Pulse, she has mentioned that her greatest role model as an actress is Meryl Streep, saying in that interview, ‘Because I want to be her. There’s nothing on this planet Meryl can’t do. There’s no character she can’t morph into.

‘I’m an actor, I want to be able to play any role. If I’m to play a dude tomorrow, I want to be able to do that, and she just morphs.’

She added: “Meryl is the epitome of performance. She’s absolutely amazing. Any performance she finds herself in, she just kills it. And that’s the kind of person I want to be. I want to totally dominate the world of performance, and who better to emulate than Meryl Streep, the queen of the big screen.”
