After five years in production, The Audrey Sylvia Company has given us the first glimpse to their upcoming neo-noir crime thriller “La Femme Anjola” which translates to “The Woman Anjola” in English.
Set in Lagos and Cape Town, the movie tells the story of a young stockbroker, Dejare, who falls in love with Anjola – a woman married to a rich gangster.
The film is written by Tunde Babalola, the creative who penned award-winning movies, The Meeting and Kunle Afolayan’s October 1.
The movie takes into consideration themes of heroism and villainy which is largely populated by the film noir genre of Hollywood in the ’40s and ’50s but with a Nigerian twist.
La Femme Anjola is directed by Mildred Okwo – her first film since the 2016 dramedy, Surul’ere. The film stars Rita Dominic and The Voice finalist Nonso Bassey in lead roles; the former plays the titular character Anjola while Bassey plays the young Dejare.
Other cast members include Femi Jacobs, Mumbi Maini, Browny Igboegwu and Shawn Faqua.
The movie is set to be released next year.
