Ify Onwuemene, a veteran Nollywood actress of some renown is down with cancer and according to reports is on the verge of dying.
Photos have emerged of the actress in the hospital hooked up to all sorts of tubes.
Reports indicate that the cancer has been so severe that the actress has had to have her womb removed and buckets of fluid drained from her tummy.
She has been reported to have called on the help of well-wishing Nigerians to help her in this terrible time of need.
Ify Onwuemene started her career with popular TV soap ‘Everyday People,’ playing the wife of late veteran actor, Sam Loco Efe.
In recent years we’ve seen a trend in which many veteran actors who have thrilled us for help, come down with illnesses and ask for help, but more often than not, they have been unable to receive the level of help they need and many have ended up dying including Fadeyi Oloro who also needed medical attention but didn’t get enough before he died.
It is hoped that Ify doesn’t meet a similar fate as we’ve already lost a number of celebrities this year.
It’s not only veterans in movies that suffer from this plight, even those in sport. Rashidi Yekini is an example. The footballer brought glory Nigeria’s way but by the time of his death, it was reported that he was living in squalor and that there was no one that came to help him or was willing to help him.
Ify Onwuemene has always been a big fan of the movie industry and was proud of it’s growth commending it in an interview but also advised producers to always give scripts to people that truly deserves it.
The actress had no formal training in theatre before bagging a role in Everyday People stating in another interview that it was simply the grace of God and the fact that she was bold enough to speak in places where others could not that helped her get the part.
Here is a picture of the actress before the illness.
