Over the years, Nollywood has gained a lot of acceptance and respect from the rest of the continent most especially since Nigerian movies are one of the the most watched movies in Africa. In turn, Nollywood has become a lucrative business venture – from movie sales to good movie ratings and to high box office rankings, it is safe to say that both producers and actors are reaping the benefits of their sweat.
Well, for Nollywood actress – Toni Tones, the Nollywood business is obviously a booming one as she has earned herself the number two spot on the list of top box office earning actors in the 2018/2019 Nigerian Box Office Yearbook.
According to the yearbook, the ranking is derived from the total box office earnings in movies she was casted in. The movies include the following;
- King of Boys (N231 million)
- Lara & The Beat (N31 million)
- The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (N58 million)
- June (N13 million)
The gross of these four entertaining 2018 movies she appeared in is 333 million naira, hence the reason why claimed she claimed the number two.
In addition, she was also earmarked for having one of the most notable performances in 2018 specifically for her role as “Young Eniola Salami” in King of Boys.
Toni Tones born Gbemi Antonia Adefoye is an actress, singer, songwriter and an award-winning photographer. She graduated from the University of Lancaster where she studied Economics and Marketing before moving back to Nigeria in 2009. She has starred in several movies like What Lies Untold (2015), It’s Her Day (2016), 5th Floor (2017) and a host of other notable movies.
There is no doubt that 2018 was an amazing year for the star actress who is well on her way to becoming a Nollywood icon. We can’t wait to see her smash more milestones in 2019.
