It won’t be wrong to say that Cardi B was the true winner of the night at the BET Awards 2019. Not only did she take home the trophy for Album of the Year, but her acceptance speech was also all shades of goofy.
Cardi B took home the Album of the Year for her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy, at the just concluded 2019 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, 2019. Cardi was visibly excited to receive the trophy, however, during her acceptance speech, which was given in front of an enthusiastic audience, she said;
Thank you so much everybody. Thank you so much guys. You know as a female artist, I always feel like damn, sometimes I feel like I am not doing too much and sometimes I feel like I am doing too much, you what I’m saying. It’s like you are not motherf**king perfect to these people but you know what, the numbers don’t lie.
I want to thank everyone who participated on the album – Kehlani, Chance The Rapper, YG and other producers. Thank you very much. I’m glad that I made an album that your sister, your mother, your grandmother like it, all you bitches be like aye-yi-ki-ki, thank you very much.
Cardi B can now add this award to her mantle of trophies that includes the seven Billboard Music Awards that she won in May and a Grammy plaque for Best Rap Album that she nabbed back in February.
Congratulations Cardi B!
