The Bad Boys franchise sure takes its time when it comes to spawning sequels for the rabid fanbase to enjoy.
After the wild success of 1995’s first installment, we had to wait 8 years before we were given a pretty underwhelming sequel in Bad Boys 2, but it starred Gabrielle Union so most of us still went with it, and now, after well over a decade and a half (Bad Boys 2 came out in 2003), we finally have a part 3 which will also probably be the very last.
The film will welcome back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to reprise their roles as detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett and they will take on their normal slew of baddies while trying to save the day with their big mouths and fast fingers.
The movie was always known for bombastic action scenes, loud explosions and fast cars and it seems that the latest installment follows the same trend with the trailer featuring some eye-sizzling action and explosions and we can’t wait to see the almost perfect chemistry between Smith and Lawrence as the two comedy greats play off each other.
Bad Boys for life was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and features screenplay from Chris Bremner, Joe Carnahan, David Guggenheim and Anthony Tambakis.
The idea of reviving old franchises has been something that has caught the fascination of many especially in the middle of Disney making a live-action for just about every animation they have produced.
It sure feels like Bad Boys For Life will try to be as mindful of the current political climate and it might botch it or it might be mindless fun (cough cough, Expendables), but do I care? No.
I’m excited and after watching the trailer below, you should be too.
