Former Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has found himself in even more hot water as he’s been allegedly charged with 7 more offences by the Federal Government.
Sowore who is still in the custody of the police was allegedly charged with crimes bordering on treason, money laundering and cyberstalking.
There have been many reactions to this especially from celebrities such as Adekunle Gold, Don Jazzy and Omojuwa all slamming the government for their move.
Adekunle Gold said: “I really don’t want to believe those fictional charges against Sowore. Treasonable what? A fucking Joke.”
Don Jazzy was of the opinion that this sets a dangerous precedent.
“This dangerous precedent of stifling opposition voices and dissenting opinions has survived enough. Let’s not pretend our nascent democracy isn’t being sabotaged when citizens shudder at the thought of people they elected into power. I plead for Sowore”
Omojuwa also spoke on the issue, saying: “If citizens are now being charged for insulting the president, what’s left of Nigeria’s democracy? Free Sowore already. This is beyond embarrassing. I don’t even remember any previous Nigerian dictator who charged any citizen for insulting him. Not even Buhari as a military ruler”
Reno Omokri feels like there is a conspiracy as he tweeted: “General Buhari and @Elrufai know what they used Sowore to achieve in destroying @GEJonathan. They are not fools. These guys are more political sophisticated than even Sowore/Tinubu know. It is brinksmanship. They wont sit and watch them do the same to Buhari”
There has been some controversy about the nature of the charges as some people have challenged the validity of the news like this Twitter user who said: “Vanguard, Punch, Sahara Reporters, Cable, Twitter Influencers all reported different 7 Count Charge for Sowore. You people want to build strong and reliable institutions but you spread and defend fake news valiantly”

This is a crazy joke taken too far. Omoyele Sowore has not done anything wrong. The Federal Goverment should release him immediately and unconditionally. https://t.co/yrCcOgfk9g

Just reading about the charges against Sowore. If he is being charged and detained for insulting the President, then the entire Nation should be in jail. Americans should all be in jail for insulting Trump too then. What a joke of a democratic system.

We stand on with @YeleSowore and defend his constitutional right and freedom to protest any matter of Governance that worries him.
Mr Sowore’s convening of Citizens to protest Poor Governance – via #RevolutionNow– is Constitutionally guaranteed.
Gratitude to his legal team.

Sowore worked verywell for Buhari and Apc in 2015, he used his Sahara Reporter's platform to abuse, insult and dragged former President Goodluck Jonathan but today He is a victim of the govt he assited to power.
May your story never be like Sowore's case in Jesus name.
