Simi part ways with her record label, X3M Music after five years

Nigerian songbird, Simi has parted ways with her music label, X3M Music following the expiration of her five years recording contract. Simi’s exit from X3M Music was made known recently in an announcement by the record label’s A&R executive, Vincent Nwanze.

It was disclosed in the statement that both parties have determined to not renew the contract. The statement reads,

We only sign artists that we love and believe in. We know our taste in music is rather different, but we only sign talents who meet that taste.

Fortunately, we have been able to find millions of music lovers here and abroad, who share similar tastes, as is evident in the success of all the artists we have worked with, including Simi who is without any doubt one of the biggest music talents in the country today…

Since Simi’s rise to fame, she has remained a consistent talent in the music industry and has been able to gather an enviable fan base. The songstress recently got married to her heartthrob, Adekunle Gold in a private wedding earlier this year and has been vocal about her criticism of internet fraudsters, popularly known as yahoo boys.

Her special voice, an unassuming look and writing talent attracted her to X3M when she was signed in 2014. She immediately warmed hearts with the hit single ‘Tiff’ which later earned her a Headies nomination. Her debut album for X3M “Simisola” was released to local and international scenes on September 2017 and was further named “album of the year” in 2018, by the Headies Awards. Her final album for X3M music “Omo Charlie Champagne” was released on April 19, 2019.

X3M Music, part of the X3M group, was founded in 2008 by Steve Babaeko, an advertising executive and also an internationally-acclaimed writer who is a notable music fan/enthusiast. X3M music is reputed to have a knack for original alternative music in an industry dominated by pop.

From all of us at NOLLYWOODALIVE, congratulations Simi on this move; greater and more successful years ahead.
