Recall that it was earlier reported that a Nigerian man identified as Kolade Johnson was killed by a trigger-happy SARS official attached to the Gbagada division of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS) of the Lagos State Police Command while watching a football match on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Following his tragic death, the father of one was recently buried amid tears at the Atan cemetery, Yaba, Lagos. The casket was accompanied by a long convoy of family members, friends, and sympathizers.
Some social media users took to the platform to share photos and videos from the burial ceremony. In the photos, a vast amount of people can be seen rocking black t-shirts with a photo print of the late Kolade in the front and a text print behind that reads “#EndSARS”.
It was all tears earlier today as Kolade Johnson was put to rest

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has reportedly dismissed Inspector Olalekan, the police officer that allegedly killed Kolade. According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Lagos Command, Bala Elkana, an Orderly Room Trial that commenced on Monday, April 1, found Olalekan guilty of Johnson’s fatal shooting and was dismissed from the Force during a judgement read on Thursday, April 4. Olalekan was tried on three charges including discreditable conduct, unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authority.
Kolade’s death caused a major outrage as Nigerians took to social media to protest against police brutality as many people called for SARS to be scraped off the police force. We really hope that President Buhari and his cabinet proffer a long lasting solution to these killings as soon as possible.
Below is a sad video of Kolade in the coffin surrounded by family and friends who couldn’t help but shed tears;
This is Kolade Johnson’s burial yesterday, these rogue police guys will not learn to respect themselves and ask the DPOs who are bent on sending them out on an extortion to go to the streets themselves. The #Endsars campaign boldly displayed in their T-shirts. Baba would winning! pic.twitter.com/4NQXTDonhX
