R.Kelly has appealed to the court to release him on health ground as he claims that his health is deteriorating and further incarceration would lead to more damage.
R.Kelly has been charged with multiple offences over his illegal dalliances with underaged girls some of whom have come forward to accuse the singer.
In a new legal document filed by R. Kelly’s Lawyer, Steve Greenberg, the legal counsel outlined some of the singer’s alleged ailments including anxiety, hernia and numbness in one of his hands.
He has also complained about his visitation rights as the ‘Ignition’ singer has been limited to just one of his two female attendants and his lawyer has called the conditions of his incarceration ‘stifling’.
Greenberg in the legal document said:“His visits are severely restricted; presently, he is only allowed one unrelated person to visit. In other words, although he lives and has lived with two lady friends, only one of them is allowed to be on his visiting list, and after 90 days he is required to switch. No other friends or professional colleagues are allowed to visit. That is not right.”
The document also claimed that R.Kelly wouldn’t pose a flight risk as his passport doesn’t have a single visa stamped on it, due to the singer’s reluctance to travel abroad.
They also made the case that the singer would not seek out any of his accusers to intimidate them or threaten them.
A trail date has been set for April 2020. The judge is yet to rule on this particular appeal.
