Prince Philip Celebrates His 98th Birthday

Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband of 71 years, marked his 98th birthday on Monday, June 10, 2019. Philip, whose official title is the Duke of Edinburgh, celebrated his new year in private, with no public events held in his honour.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who the longest-serving consort in British history was born on the 10th of June 1921 into the Greek and Danish royal families and married Queen Elizabeth in 1947. They went on to welcome Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

In a bid to commemorate with the Prince on his 98th birthday, the official Royal Family Instagram page along with other social media pages for members of the royal family was flooded with tributes to the old monarch.

The official Royal Family Instagram page, which covers the outings of the Queen and other prominent members, shared two photos of Prince Philip; a recent shot of him sharing a smile with grandson Prince Harry during Lady Gabriella’s May wedding as well as a formal portrait, where he wears his military uniform, from 1953.

Although Prince Philip has officially retired from public life, he is still occasionally seen with the queen at official events. He recently gave up his driver’s license after a ghastly car accident in January. However, he still drives a horse-drawn carriage on private grounds from time to time.

From all of NOLLYWOODALIVE, happy birthday Prince Philip.
