Pastor Fatoyinbo, the head pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, is still according to reports, in police custody.
Pastor Fatoyinbo was accused of rape by Busola Dakolo, a celebrity photographer who claimed that she was sexually assaulted by the man of God twice when she was a teenager.
Speaking to the Punch, the spokesman for the Police, Mr Frank Mba said that while Fatoyinbo was granted administrative bail, he remains in police custody as he is yet to fulfill his bail conditions.
“He is still with us,” Mba said, he added that he couldn’t say if he would released that night or not.
“It depends on if he meets the bail conditions that would be given to him” Mba concluded.
The rape case is one that has fascinated the entire nation with scores of people going out to protest when the news first broke through an interview which Busola Dakolo did with Y Naija where she described the sexual assault.
This led to even more alleged victims coming out to also condemn the pastor and tell their own stories.
The reactions have been varied with some standing with Busola and others picking holes in her story and doubting her words.
The Christian leadership was also brought into the matter with both the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) also getting involved with the latter even expelling Pastor Fatoyinbo from their body.
They also set up a panel to investigate the rape cases and scheduled a hearing which Fatoyinbo skipped.
Asked why he did so, he said, through his senior assistant, Ademola Adetuberu, that the PFN’s panel was biased against him and would therefore not constitute a fair hearing.
“We explained that our pastor would not honour the invitation due to legal advice hinged on the ongoing police investigation.” he said.
