A few days ago, news headlines reported that Nigerian rapper, Falz had just bagged a nomination alongside other international artistes as nominees for the 2019 BET Hip-Hop Awards. Falz was nominated in BET’s new Best International Flow category alongside Nasty C (South Africa), Sarkodie (Ghana), Tory Lanez (Canada), OG Ghetts (UK) and Little Simz (UK).
Although several fans of the Nigerian rapper have trooped to his social media platforms to congratulate, a Ghanaian CEO – in the person of Sadiq Abdulai Abu – has taken a swipe at the organizers of BET Awards over the nomination of Falz in the same category as fellow Ghanaian national, Sarkodie.
Reacting to the nomination list during an interview on Hitz FM, Sadiq stated that considering by the impact Sarkodie has made in the African music industry, he shouldn’t be in the same category with Falz.
In his words;
What’s Falz doing in the BET’s Best International Flow Category?
I think it is disrespectful to Sarkodie for Falz to be in the same category as him, looking at the standard Sarkodie has set.
Sarkodie is been there and done that. There is no slowing down.
I hope he wins.
The Awards show will return to Atlanta taking over the Cobb Energy Center and will be broadcast to fans on Tuesday, October 8 after an October 5 filming.
