Nollywood Alive Trending Top Movies Of The Week – November 18

On the top ten countdown this week, we will be looking at some selected Nollywood movies showing on Netflix and trending top movies showing in cinemas across the nation.

1. THE BLING LAGOSIANS

It is a Nollywood Drama available on Netflix. The movie was first released for viewing at the cinema in June 2019 and after a great amount of success, the non-stop trending Nollywood drama is now on Netflix.

It was directed by Bolanle Austen-Peter featuring actors such as Bisola, Bam Bam, Osa Ighodaro, Jide Kosoko, Helen Paul and a lot more…

“It tells the story of a wealthy family, living in Lagos. They struggle to remain the way it was before, therefore living on past glory.”

2. NEW MONEY

New Money is a 2018 Nollywood movie that is now available on Netflix.

The movie was directed by Tope Oshin featuring a host of talented actors such as Kate Henshaw, Jemima Osunde, Falz, Wofai Fada.

“The movie follows the life of a young girl aspiring to become a fashion designer but currently working as a salesgirl. She suddenly finds herself in wealth after the death of her father who left her a letter.”

3. LIVING IN BONDAGE: BREAKING FREE

It is the sequel to the original 1992 part one of the Nollywood drama. With a large turn out at the cinema, the movie has made 50 million naira since its release.

Directed by Ramsey Nouah and he doubled as an actor in the blockbuster alongside Bob Manuel, Chuks Chike, Kenneth Okonkwo,  Nancy Isime and more.

“It is a story about a young desperate man who is willing to go to any length to get rich quick but the riches he seeks came with a lot of torment after she got introduced to a billionaire occultic leader of a group called ‘The Six’.”

4. 93 DAYS

It has been tagged one of Nollywood Best Movie.

The historic movie was done in honour of Dr Ameyo Adadevoh who died while trying to curb the National disaster, the Ebola virus that instilled fear in the lives of Nigerians when the virus was detected in the country.

Directed by Steve Gukas starring Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey, Gideon Okeke, Bimbo Manuel.

The Nollywood docu-drama is available on Netflix.

5. TRAPPED INBETWEEN

The drama is showing on Ibaka TV starring the comedian, I Go Save, Lilian Esoro and Alex Ekubo.

” it is the story of a man that impregnated two ladies at the same time and must look for a way to calm situations down.”

It is a Nollywood hilarious movie with lots of drama.

6. LION HEART

It is a 2018 Genevieve Nnaji’s directional debut movie showing on Netflix.

The movie stars Nollywood legendary actors and some artistes such as Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Onyeka Owenu, Genevieve Nnaji, Mr P and Phyno.

It is the first Nigerian movie to get an Oscar nomination although, it was later dropped.

7. THE HERBERT MACAULAY AFFAIR

Just like the Nollywood docu-drama ’93days’, Th Herbert Macaulay Affair is a Nigerian historic movie of three decades ago.

Directed by Imoh Umoren and features Saidi, Duke Elvis, Orhiere Martha.

“It is the story of Young Herbert Macaulay who returned to Nigeria after his studies in England to become a surveyor. He saw the hardship fellow citizens go through, he quit his job and became rebellious towards the then-government.”

The movies show all sides of his life, from Love, Loss and Tragedy.

8. CHARLIE’S ANGEL

The Hollywood comedy and action movie is a combination of the first part directed by Elizabeth Banks starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Sam Claflin.

“Charlie’s Angels is a group of three ladies who put their lives at risk to save others”.

9. FORD vs FERRARI

” It is a movie of an American car designer and a driver. Both came together to build a revolutionary car for Ford that can be used to challenge Ferrari in a car race.”

The Hollywood action movie stars Caitriona Balfe, Mah Damon, Christian Bale. Directed by James Mangold.

10. READ BETWEEN THE LIES

 Hollywood action movie that tells the story of a “career con-artist who eventually gets what he wants but got caught in between on his next job. He finds himself caring about his victim and forgoing his initial plan to swindle her.”

Directed by Bill Condon, starring Helen Mirren, Russell Tovey and Ian McKellen.
