Nollywood Alive Top Ten Trending Movies/Web Series For The Week -August 19th

NOLLYWOOD CINEMA MOVIES

1. SINGLE ACTION

This drama just started showing in the cinema. It has an interesting storyline to it as it bothers on miscommunication and pride between couples as well as emotional infidelity…this movie shows how one’s emotions can be cheated on!

Directed by Ayomide Dawodu, starring the leader of the “chop life gang” Alex Ekubo, the director who also doubled as an actor, Ayomide Dawodu, Bolanle Ninalowo aka Nino, Seun Akindele and Tana Adelana.

2. SHUKI

This movie was premiered in London on July 5th, 2019 but started showing August 9th, 2019 in selected cinemas in Nigeria.

It is a Ghanian movie directed by Salifu Zakari. It is a romantic drama that talks about the lives of a couple. Things didn’t really go as planned for a man who married a village girl as she learnt the use of social media as soon as she became a city girl. Due to her continuous use and attention on social media, her husband began to suspect her of cheating on him. It stars Fran Artus, Hassana Sampah and James Gardner.

3. THE REUNION

This is a Nollywood movie that features amazing and talented actors who have most likely never worked together before.

It showcases four friends who plan to reunite so as to plan the reunion of their 50th alma mater but they couldn’t agree on who should take the lead which led to digging up of old wounds and secrets. Find out what happens next…when you go see the movie.

Directed by Thomas Odia, starring actors like; Steve Onu, Chigul, Femi Jacobs, Frederick Leonard, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Mercy Aigbe, Tana Adelana, Jide Kosoko, Lilian Esoro and Jaiye Kuti.

4. SADE TAKES LAGOS

With a title such as this, you’d think this is a documentary, well, you aren’t far from the truth but just to add to it, it is also a Nollywood drama.

In other not to feel disturbed by her parent’s separation, a young girl vacationed in Lagos to follow her dreams of making it in music but was faced with a series of unfortunate events.

Directed by Chibuike Ike, starring Alex Ekubo, Seun Akindele and Tana Adelana.

5. ONCE UPON A NIGHT

This is an interesting newly released Nollywood movie.

A psychology student imprisons himself for a night over the fear of being alone as well as to face his demons once and for all.

Directed by Gbolahan Akintunde starring Ade Bantu, Daniel Egwede, Kiki Omeili, Wale Ojo and many more.

WEB SERIES

6. TURNING TABLES

An Ibaka TV production that follows the life of a couple who should have never been married due to their constant fight about the man who is not contented with the wife he has at home.

Staring Alex Ekubo and Uche Jombo.

7. HUNTED SECRET

It is an Iroko TV production. Filled with the secret of the past that came calling on the young lady who is trying to convince.

Staring Ebele Okaro Onyiuke, Chelsea Eze, Too sweet Annan, Blessing Onwukwe, Edem Roxy Antak and Samuel Excel.

8. LOVE ME

From the stables of Iroko TV, the movie titled Love Me is about a young woman who struggles to make a decision to either quit a relationship that has yielded no result for 6 years or just stay and continue to enjoy the benefits attached to it. Starring: Zoe Aruke, Emem D.Ufot, Ray Emodi, Pricilla Opara and others.

HOLLYWOOD / BOLLYWOOD MOVIES

9. BATLA HOUSE

This a Hindi action drama that is based on a real-life incident. The incident took place on September 19, 2008, against India Mujahideen terrorists in Bartla house. All the events that took place at the time have been put together in this movie.

10. THE KITCHEN

The Kitchen is still available for viewing in cinemas and it is one Hollywood movie that might change your mind about how women engage in crimes.
