Nollywood Alive Top Movies/Web Series For The Week – July 19

Our top ten movies for this week consists of top ranking television series, best of nollywood cinema movies and the rave of the moment, Lion King.

1. JENIFA’S DIARY

Jenifa’s diary is one hilarious television series which passes strong and sensitive messages and life lessons to the public in the most funniest way ever. The series started in 2015 which showcases the life style of a naive girl,who became a school drop out but determined to make it in life at all cost and ended up as a hair dresser who is currently running her own saloon. It has 16 seasons already and it is currently on-going. It is produced by Funke Akindele Bello who is also the lead actress, Lolo, Lota Chukwu, Paschaline Alex Okoli, Tobi Makinwa and a host of others are among the casts….!

2. TINSEL

It is a Soap Opera that started since 2008 and it happens to be the longest and the most successful Nigerian television drama which is presently still on-going. It has 11 seasons and more than two thousand episodes and it is very much loved by viewers. With the introduction of the M-net produced Soap Opera, faded the like of Doctors quarters. So far, the television series did cast a lot of actors and has helped lunch the career of upcoming actors. Written by Yinka Ogun, Kemi Adesoye, Uju Asika and Tunde Babalola. Some of the casts include; Victor Olaotan, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Ireti Doyle,Damilola Adegbite, Chris Attoh and a host of others.

3. HUSBANDS OF LAGOS

The above named television series is produced by ROK Studios. It has a total number of three(3) seasons which talks about the way of life for five different men living in lagos even though the city is a place of Love, mending hearts, power businesses and politics. It is very intriguing,full of secrets and deceit and definitely a must watch. Movie cast includes; Bolanle Ninalowo, Bobby Obodo,Uche Odoputa,Kenneth Okolie, Mary Remmy Njoku and much more!!

4. RANT QUEENS

Since the release of this movie and became available at the Cinema, there’s a positive reaction to it. The Lancelot Imasuen directed movie is about a mother and a daughter who got into a fight on social media why remaining the daughter over her non-marital status. It is now showing in selected cinemas as it is getting to come to a stop. It was by “Moyin Olutayo.

5. STORM

There must have been some uncertainty about the acceptance of this movie while still in production because, most Nigerians don’t watch investigative movie. The newly released movie is about the investigation of the death of a loyal chief of staff which is done in secrecy. It is a romantic drama. Directed by Luqman Adeniyi.

6. THE GIFT

A newly released cinema movie. It is a story about a young girl who is in love with a young teacher and had to endure all the abuses in her relationship. Will she survive? Check the cinema near you to find out more. Lota Chukwu, Paul Sambo, Oge Okoye, Teddy A, Bamike Olawunmi and was directed by Emmanuel Princewill.

7. MOKALIK

This movie has recorded a huge success as it has be acquired by an online streaming platform, Netflix and still showing at few cinemas across the country. Another name for Mokalik is Mechanic directed by Kunle Adolayan. It focuses on an 11-year-old boy who made up his mind to become a mechanic after spending a day at the workshop. Haven’t seen it yet? 8. MAD OVER YOU

This a movie that is currently available at only one cinema which could just be the one near you. It has such an interesting storyline and you’d love to have a repeat. A story About an A-list actor who is getting ready to marry a model who were mistaken for a perfect couple as they know how to work the camera very well. Are they good together or just good for the public? It was written and directed by Victor Okpala and stared Linda Osifo, Annie Idibia, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Ifu Enanda.

9. COMING FROM INSANITY

It is a real life story and still very much available at the cinema. An intelligent genius is trafficked out of his own home and country at 12years old to a strange land to become a houseboy and not granted any educational opportunities. Given the fact that he was tired of his situation, he developed the art of making counterfeit money which later made him the most wanted in the country by the EFCC.

10. LION KING

This is one of the most anticipated movie by the talented American singer, Beyonce. The wait is all over and the movie is available for viewing at all cinema. It’d help make your weekend more relaxing. It is a story about pride, revenge and betrayal. Simba who idolizes his father, with the help of a new set of friends, has to grow up and take back what is rightfully his after the murder of his father. Produced by Beyonce, starring Beyonce, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and a host of others!
