Our artiste of the week was born Azeez Fashola but goes by the stage name, Naira Marley.
Naira Marley was born on the 10th of May in a place called Agege in Lagos State, Nigeria.
He relocated to Peckham, London where he had his education.
He studied Business at the Peckham Academy and he later furthered his studies in Business Law but he dropped out.
With no plans whatsoever for music, Naira Marley said he had always wanted to be a voice-over artist and an MC but life had other plans for him.
He supported his friends who wanted to do music by paying for their studio sessions. He finally got to try something in the studio himself and he loved what he heard, so he decided to try it out and it became a career for him.
His stage name “Naira Marley” which he gave to himself was coined from the name of his mentor and music legend, Bob Marley.
Although he got his popularity from the song he did with Olamide and Lil Kesh titled “Issa Goal” but the first music he made was “Mary Juana.”
Naira Marley rose to fame in 2014 but became a force to contend with in 2019 after his controversial song “Am I A Yahoo Boy” ft Zlatan Ibile landed him in jail but currently he is out on bail.
Prior to 2019, Naira Marley has released other songs such as; Drummer Boy, Facetime, Illuminate, Money On The Road, Hand with Me and many more.
Naira Marley dropped out of school when he started having kids. He has four kids residing in London.
The Nigerian artiste Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley calls his fans Marlians and has been able to rise above all criticism and controversy together with an army or Marlians behind him while dropping consistent banging music.
