Jenee Darden, daughter of Chris Darden is certainly not having a good day after her father’s involvement in the Nipsey Hussle case has gotten her some severe backlash.
Her father, happens to be the lawyer repping the man arrested in connection to the rapper’s death.
Nipsey Hussle was killed on the 31st of March 2019 outside his clothing store in Los Angeles.
The suspect, 29-year-old Eric Holder was said to have killed Hussle over a personal matter and was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the injuries of two people at the scene.
Chris Darden pleaded not guilty for Eric Holder and many were shocked at the attorney’s actions especially as he was one of the lawyers who went after O.J. Simpson in his own case.
Following this, his daughter, Jenee has now been subject to severe abuse online, so much so that she took to her Instagram to try and clear things up, stating that her father was able to take decisions himself and that she played no part in his decision to take up the case.
She also asked those harassing her to take that same energy and instead use it to honour Nipsey’s legacy, a legacy which was encapsulated by the late rapper’s elder brother, Samiel Asghedom, who while speaking to the Los Angeles times spoke of what his brother had done for the community: “He made something work in an area that was run-down, that people were scared to come to, and he turned it into a landmark,
“All races. Different states. Many countries. They all come to Crenshaw and Slauson. He was truly the people’s champ.
“It doesn’t make sense that somebody from the area, that just snuck up, and just talked to him and shook his hand minutes before,” he added. “It’s mind-boggling.”
Let’s hope that the legacy he left behind is picked up not by one person, but an entire community and carried on.
