Nana Fofie is a young, beautiful and talented Holland based Ghanaian singer and song writer who I have been following her work since 2017. Although, she started music at age 5 and have a deep passion for music but released her first ever music in 2017 and after seeing the positive reaction it got from fans, she has continued to for follow her first love.
The mother of one rise to stardom started with an Afro Mash-up, Mad Over You in March 2017, by the Nigerian singer, Runtown with the infusion of so many other songs which gave the Mash-up the kind of vibe it needed for a listener to fall in love. The video was produced by Ruben Isaac and was released on YouTube. She was later named, “The mash-up queen.”
During the release, she made a comment of looking for only 50,000 views on YouTube but it exceeded her expectation and rather got one million views in the first month. She was completely overwhelmed and then, she realised she was indeed ready to do music and not just Mash-up. Seeing how good this could be for her, she released another Afro Mash-up titled ‘Leg Over’ in May, 2017 which got a 100,000 views on the day of release and both mash-ups combined have gotten over 2.5million views on YouTube. Since them, she’s been to various shows singing and have also released a couple of singles.
While recording her success and counting her blessing, her achievements and hard work has not gone unnoticed and she’s beginning to realise what it means to follow your dreams. Earlier this year, Nicki Minaj has started taking personal interest to the Mash-up queen.
Nicki who loved and vibed to Nana Fofie mash-up, took out time online to express how much she loves the song and took the love a step further by talking about it on her queen radio. “She’s so fucking dope. I wish I had time to play her song. Hopefully I can do music with her one day.” The mash-up queen who couldn’t hide her excitement, shared the news on her platform and just like that, she was invited to be among the opening acts for the American Rapper, Nicki Minaj in Holland.
The love that exists between this two is about to become mind blowing as Nicki is making serious moves to have her as an artiste under her management. The hint came after Nicki posted Nana Fofie’s Megatron challenge video on her instagram page, prasing and applauding the mash-up queen. She said;
“Ghana stand up!!!!! #megatronchallenge. This is my baby @nanafofie, I always talk about her on Queen Radio. You can thank me later. She’s not a rapper. She’s a singer/songwriter & I can’t wait for her to be a part of my label. Her song ‘Odo’ is fire. I played her “mad over you mash-up” on my ig while I was on vacation in Turks. Me and bae LOVEEEEE HER MUSIC. She opened for me in Europe as well.”
This comment came after her verse from the #megatronchallenge was posted which got an endorsed response from Nana, who expressed how honoured she’d be to be a part of the team. “I will be honoured to be a part of your LABEL.”
Joy! Nothing but Joy!!!
