Miley Cyrus’ New Song, “Slide Away” Hints Possible Jibe At Ex-Husband, Liam Hemsworth

Less than a week after confirming her separation from Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus has released her new single titled, “Slide Away”. The 26-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress released the track on Friday, 17th August 2019 and since its release, many have speculated that the singer threw a jibe at her ex-husband in the new song.

Referencing the words – “move on, we’re not 17, I’m not who I used to be” in the song lyrics, several Miley Cyrus’ fans began to speculate that the lines are a direct statement about the pair’s early days as a couple.

You’d recall that the pair met as teenagers while filming the movie “The Last Song.” It was released in March 2010, when Hemsworth was 20 and Cyrus was 17.

The pair had a rocky on-again, off-again relationship for about three years before Hemsworth proposed in 2012. The two ended their engagement and broke up in 2013 before reconciling in 2015. Fast forward to December 2018, they tied the knot during an intimate ceremony at their home in Tennessee but decided to go their separate ways again in August 2019.

Woo-ooh, woo-ooh, woo-ooh
Woo-ooh, woo-ooh, woo-ooh

Once upon a time, it was paradise
Once upon a time, I was paralyzed
Think I’m gonna miss these harbor lights
But it’s time to let it go
Once upon a time, it was made for us
Woke up one day, it had turned to dust
Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost
So it’s time to let it go

I want my house in the hills
Don’t want the whiskey and pills
I don’t give up easily
But I don’t think I’m down

So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, la-la-la, you’ll slide away
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, la-la-la, you’ll slide away

Once upon a time, it was paradise
Once upon a time, I was paralyzed
Think I’m gonna miss these harbor lights
But it’s time to let it go
Once upon a time, it was made for us (For us)
Woke up one day, it had turned to dust
Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost
So it’s time to let it go

Move on, we’re not 17
I’m not who I used to be
You say that everything changed
You’re right, we’re grown now

So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, la-la-la, you’ll slide away
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights
So won’t you slide away
Back to the ocean, la-la-la, you’ll slide away

Move on, we’re not 17
I’m not who I used to be
You say that everything changed
You’re right, we’re grown now
