Many Nigerians in diaspora have continued to represent the country in a good way and the beautiful writer turned producer, Kay Oyekun is one amongst many.
Kay Oyekun started writing for the American series “This Is Us” as a staff writer from day one the movie launched and gradually rose to become a producer-writer.
“This Is Us” recently hit a four-week high in the TV ratings with 7.3 million viewers.
She recently signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
Kay has risen through the ranks of NBC hit and is one of several writers in the movie to sign with the studio.
The President Of Creative Affairs at the 20th TV, Carolyn Cassidy said;
“We feel very fortunate to continue our relationship with Kay, who has played a pivotal role in the ‘This Is Us’ writer’s room since Day One and has written some of the most memorable episodes including ‘R&B’, and this season’s ‘The Dinner and the Date’.
Carolyn stressed on how they would love to keep the beautiful relationship with Kay, ongoing. She said that;
” It was evident very early to all of us at The 20th that Kay was someone we wanted to be in business with for a long time. We are very pleased to have her continue to tell beautiful stories on ‘This Is Us’ while also bringing us new ideas.”The Nigerian born Writer, Kay Oyekun is honoured and elated to be recognised amongst the other writers. She stated that;
“Carolyn, Howard and Craig trust storytellers and I can’t imagine collaborating with better partners. I’m still pinching myself. I get to continue on a show I love with the people I adore and I get to create new dynamic stories for 20th. It is all a blessing.”
Whilst Kay is famous for the hit series, This Is Us, she has written some episodes for the series, Queen Sugar and some feature scripts for Paramount, Fox and Warner Bros.
