Toke Makinwa is advising you to reciprocate the energy that is around you– and it’s very, very sound advice.
Think about it, how many times have you found yourself incredibly bothered that a certain someone doesn’t like you as much as you like said person? Or how you feel you’re moving and earth for a ‘friend’ who doesn’t seem to even notice that you exist?
Well, according to Toke Makinwa, such feelings should be chucked right back at such people.
She said this in her latest YouTube vlog where she shared her thoughts on the topic.
According to her, she broke things up into 3 simple rules: (1) There’s no need to comment on everything that someone brings before you. This is common in a social media era in which everyone has an opinion on something and everyone wants that opinion validated and we retweet things that could trigger us and so on…some times, just ignore it, it’s adding nothing to you, and most of the time the people who have made these statements have gotten past it and are living their lives to the best while you get angry about it and throw a fit.
(2) Stay in your lane. This phrase has become something of a mantra for some people, but it works. Minding your business is necessary in this world of opinionated discourse and debate. If you face your front, the odds of people talking about you is a lot less and even if they do talk about you, you can be sure that it’s just haters being haters or some other sinister situation.
And (3) if someone wants to be a type of way, that’s absolutely fine, leave them that way and move on with your own stuff. The inherent need for validation usually causes us to want to ‘talk about it’ meanwhile it might just be easier to ignore and keep moving.
She is not wrong is she?
