The Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Signage & Advertisement Agency has suspended the license of an advertising firm over the Lekki Strippers kerfuffle.
Recall that there was a viral clip of a couple of semi-naked ladies dancing at the back of a see-through Mobile advertising truck that went round which caused outrage.
In a statement by the Lagos State Government, the company responsible for the truck, Provision Media System Limited, has now had its license suspended.
The statement reads: “The Government of Lagos State, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has zero-tolerance for any slightest attempt by anyone, under any guise, to debase the moral fabric of our dear state.
“Nobody can hide under the guise of engaging in the outdoor advertising business to display obscenity that is antithetical to our cherished cultural and moral values.
“The full weight of the law, as enshrined in the agency’s extant law, will be meted on the company owning this erring outdoor mobile truck.
“We assure members of the public that the agency shall henceforth scrutinize activities of mobile trucks to forestall a recurrence of such an obscenity. ”
The situation caused a lot of outrage including by Nigerian celebrity Belinda Effah who said that this was a means of mortgaging the future of children.
Her post on the matter read in part: Our Children Can’t Be Exposed To Such Insanity and It Doesn’t Matter If It Happened At Night-Time. Lekki Toll Gate Is Not Red Light District. Please let’s Apply Some Morals and Decorum and Call a Spade a Spade.
Whatever Company Responsible For This Should Be Cautioned or Called To Order Accordingly. Their Business is not Everyone’s Business and should Have Restrictions. The Government Should Have Restrictions On Indecent Exposure.
It remains to be seen if the Lagos State Government would take action against Tekno who was also responsible for the strippers as it was for a music video of his.
