Following the launch of her new book, Juliet Ibrahim has opened up about her aborted marriage, her subsequent divorce and the depression that came after.
She was speaking about the perception of marriage from people outside who are critical about divorce. She said that some marriages are unwholesome and that no one should be put in a dark place simply because they want to stay married.
Speaking to Citi News, Juliet Ibrahim talked about how her marriage left her in a horrible place and the effect that had on her mental health.
”People have had their own perception about what led to my divorce.I have sat down for many years and have had to deal with the pain and insults from the public who had no clue what I went through as a person during that period and how it affected me.
“The depression and all that happened. All I will say is you should never judge someone who wants to come out of a marriage. Because sometimes it is better to come out of it than to stay in it. For your own sanity and mental stability it us always good to take a bold decision for yourself. For your kids, if there are kids involved take a bold decision,” she said.
Juliet Ibrahim accepted that her marriage was a mistake and that her ex’s family wasn’t even supportive of the marriage in the first place.
According to reports, Juliet Ibrahim was married to Kwadwo Safo Jnr for about three years before she divorced.
She also dated rapper Iceberg Slim for a while before they called it quits last year. She has not been with anyone since then and Iceberg Slim also even apologized to her saying that he cheated and took her love for granted.
“I LIED, I CHEATED, I TOOK YOUR LOVE FOR GRANTED… AND IN TURN, I BROUGHT RIDICULE AND SHAME TO YOU.” he wrote in a post.
“FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, I APOLOGIZE. “WHY NOW?” YOU MAY ASK. IN LIFE, SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO REVEAL, IN ORDER TO HEAL.” he also added.
