2019 is an interesting time to be alive and David Otunga, Jennifer Hudson’s ex, is a major reason for that.
The two split up in 2017 after a whopping 10-year engagement and in 2018, Otunga won custody of their son.
He has now asked for child support from Jennifer Hudson and also subsidy for his living arrangements, a term to which Hudson has responded with a resounding ‘NO’
According to reports, court documents show that Otunga claimed that the award winning actress and singer should pay him as he was the primary caregiver for their son.
Hudson hit back in the court documents stating that Otunga was on the road a lot with the WWE and that he should simply get a job to support himself if need be.
“To accept David’s proposition that because he is present, he is a better parent would be to do a disservice to working parents in general and to Jennifer in particular,” her court documents read.
“Nothing entitles David to live in a home identical to Jennifer’s.” it added.
The bitter separation has not been without twists and turns with Hudson accusing Otunga of threatening behavior against her and her son and also claimed that he once left a prop gun on the table in a bid to scare her (Hudson lost family members to a shooting in 2008).
Otunga on his part, accused Hudson of being an unfit mother and also that she had allegedly had an affair with her producer.
Concluding her statement in her court documents, Jennifer Hudson made clear that she doesn’t believe it is her responsibility to support a grown man and further denied “that the child support should extend to housing subsidies for David when the parties were never married.”
The saga continues when the exes face off in court again in May 2019 when the next hearing is to take place.
