“I Did Not Go Into Music For Money,” Says Charly Boy As He Sets To Release A New Song

The former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, self acclaimed Area Fada and Activist, Charles Oputa is also known as Charly boy is set to release a new song after a decade with singer, rapper and actor, Folarin Falana who goes by the stage name, Falz the bahd Guy.

This might come as a surprise to many as the 68-year-old Charly boy returns to the music industry. In a recent interview with New Agency Of Nigeria, he gave reasons for his come-back and why he chooses to collaborate with Falz.

He said the song is for advocacy purposes and is targeted at driving the positive narrative in the society. He also said Falz is the best person to have collaborated with him on such a song because of how Falz uses his music to address the various issues in the country (This is Nigeria and The Moral Instruction Album are examples of such music)

“Falz is a young man that I so much believe in his music and passion towards positive change in all aspects of our society and we share similar thoughts. We are working on something together and it will surely stir positive change in our lives as Nigerians.”

On why he decided to return to music, he said that he was leading an advocacy and enlightenment campaign called, “Na we be Government” which he thought about and going back to music was/is the best way to do so and also stated that making money is not the reason for his upcoming song.

“All over the world, the arts especially music have been used to inspire people and change their narratives towards a better society. I did not go into music for money but for the passion for it to awake the conci9usness of all. A lot of Nigerians have given up on their country because of bad leadership over the years and do not believe they have a say in the affairs of the country.”

He added that it is time citizens and political leaders do their part as promised during campaigns because that is the best way to truly govern and lead the people.

He concluded by saying that, Nigerian Artistes should look past the financial gains in making music and come up with projects for the sake of value reorientation.

The date of release and title of the song is unknown but we are excited and patiently waiting to listen to the song as soon as it is released.

The legend is back!!!
