Internet personality, Hushpuppi, has spoken about the COZA rape scandal, stating that Nigerians only care because it involves a famous person.
According to the Internet personality, while rape is a serious issue, he feels that Nigerians will take it too far.
He also pointed out that rape isn’t a new occurrence in Nigeria, but that no one has spoken about it until it concerned a rich and popular person.
He claimed that Nigerians are only pretending to care and that all the other stories involving old men defiling young girls are not being talked about.
Hushpuppi is a bit of controversial character with many believing that his money was made through illegal means. He is commonly seen on social media showing off one new purchase or the other and posting inspirational quotes.
He warned that this current wave could spell trouble for many innocent people as celebrities, politicians and other famous people would be accused of rape, both real and imagined on an alarmingly regular basis and that people should be careful before jumping on this trend, lest they be hurt by the very thing they’re fighting for.
Hushpuppi might have a point as we’ve already seen an example of a false alarm with a lady who claimed that MC Galaxy raped her before coming out later to say that nothing had happened and that it was simply a move to get her song played more often on the radio.
“@mcgalaxy is my brother, no be every news dey real, make una help my tag @mcgalaxy and tell am not to vex, tell am sef to add mouth for one of my song make me sef blow, if no be him nobody for hear my name, for all the bloggers eh, make una blog this one ooo, use same energy you used to promote someone’s downfall to promote my songs and God will bless you.” she said in a post.
