The music scene is never more active in Lagos than at the end of the year. This is in part because revellers come back with foreign currencies to dole on concert tickets and home-based Nigerians who have otherwise had a good year are desperately looking to unwind.

However, just like last year, this December promises to be a great one considering the rise in the number of independent artists who are looking to headline their own concerts. Though some of the artists on this list have not announced an official date for the shows, it is only a matter of time before they get our calendars ticking.

Therefore, in a bid to set the ball rolling for 2019’s Detty December, here is a list of the top five most anticipated concerts in Lagos this year.

OLIC 6

Though Olamide hasn’t made any official statement about an “OLIC 6” taking place, however, given that in the past five years, the rapper’s annual live in concert has become one of the most anticipated and successful concerts of the year, it is safe to say we can’t wait to see what Olamide and his team have in store for us this year.

So, if there’ll be an OLIC 6 this December, it is expected that Olamide and his team will unveil all the details in the coming weeks.

Davido Live In Concert

For Davido, December 27th, 2017 marked his first headline show in Lagos in 5 years after his “30 Billion World Tour” where he touched cities in United States, Denmark, Germany etc. Davido returned with a bigger and better headline concert on the same date in 2018 within the expanse land of the Eko Atlantic.

Although Davido and his team have yet to announce plans or details for a third consecutive concert, past concerts from Davido have got us preparing for what they have to offer us this December.

Burna Boy Live

2019 has no doubt been a good year for Afropop sensation, Burna Boy. From winning his first BET award to launching a chart-topping album and featuring in two of world’s most popular late-night shows amongst other notable international interviews, Burna Boy Live is undeniably one of the concerts to look forward to this December.

Wizkid Made in Lagos

In what appeared to be the highlight of the concert back in 2017, Wizkid surprised his fans when he brought Davido on stage, performed to OBO’s hit single FIA, shared a hug and offically ended their beef. The Nigerian music stars were at war all through 2017, with their rivalry dividing their fans who spent all year fighting in social media comment sections.

In 2018, the Wizkid Made in Lagos concert came back bigger and stronger with performances from amazing acts such as Skales, Ceeza Milli, Harrysong, Skepta, Tiwa Savage and Duncan Mighty who joined Wizkid to perform the hit single, Fake Love – a song Wizkid clarified he reached out to Duncan Mighty for the collaboration.

Given all of these memorable feats during both editions of the concert, it is safe to say that Nigerians are unarguably anxious for the return of their pop icon to the stage this December.

Marlians Festival

Since his arrest by the EFCC on the 10th of May, 2019 – Naira Marley has somewhat become an engima. He already has some of the hottest street anthems and for this reason, many would like to see for themselves what he has in store for his concert rather than be told about it.
