After eight years together, Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki, have called it quits. The Grammy winner’s representatives, Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh, confirmed the news recently in a statement to the media.
The statement reads;
Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.
The 30-year-old singer with 15 Grammys and Konecki, 45, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, have kept their relationship private over the years. In October 2012, Adele gave birth to their son, Angelo, and the couple got married in 2016 in a low-key ceremony after five years of dating.
However, it was only at the 2017 Grammys that Adele had confirmed that she was married to Konecki when she won album of the year. In her acceptance speech, she said;
Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son—you’re the only reason I do it.
Her turbulent love life has long been the core of her emotive songs; which have earned her a legion of fans worldwide. However, when Adele met Simon Konecki it seemed as if the singer was finally happy in love.
The Tottenham-born singer released her debut album, 19, in 2008 and it contained songs like “Chasing Pavements” and “Hometown Glory”. It reached number one in the UK. This was followed by her eagerly anticipated follow-up, 2011’s 21. The album brought even more success thanks to singles like “Someone Like You”, “Rolling In The Deep” and “Rumour Has It”.
The record topped the music charts in 30 countries, including the US and UK and cemented Adele’s status as one of the world’s best-loved artist. Her most recent album, 25, was released in 2015 and it had songs like “Hello” also topping the Billboard charts. The album was another commercial success.
On the other hand, Konecki was a senior broker at Leman Brothers but gave up the city lifestyle to start Life Water. The company sells eco-friendly bottled water and this led the 45-year-old to set up the Drop4Drop charity which helps provide clean water in the developing world.
Fans have reacted on the internet over the divorce with most of them expecting an album of soul-wrenching songs inspired by the emotional ordeal.
Do you think this divorce will influence Adele’s next album/single? Let us know in the comment section?
