As a matter of fact, the Nollywood industry as greatly improved in recent years, and as a result of this tremendous amount of improvement, Genevieve Nnaji’s Lionheart is Nigeria’s submission for Best International Feature at next year’s Oscars.

The Herbert Macaulay Affair
Set for release on the 25th of October, the movie focuses on the late Herbert Macaulay, who is dubbed the father of Nigerian nationalism and was one of the key figures in Nigeria’s independence from British colonial rule.
Scenes from the trailer show the lead actor, William Benson interpreting Sir Herbert Macaulay’s gestures and voice while addressing a crowd ahead of a protest, enjoying his famous tobacco wood pipe during a closed-door conversation as well as his uniquely styled moustache.
The movie is produced by Imoh Umoren.
Premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2018, Farming tells the true story of a young Nigerian boy, ‘farmed out’ by his parents to a white British family in the hope of a better future.
The movie is set to be released on the 11th of October, 2019 and it stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kate Beckinsale, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Damson Idris.
Movie director and founder of Anthill studios, Niyi Akinmolayan and Ola Olaniyi are the executive producers of the movie titled “Elevator Baby”.
The story is centred around Dare William, (Timini Egbuson) a privileged young man with a temper and his encounter with Abigail Kuforiji, (Toyin Abraham) a pregnant woman with a secret. When both characters get stuck in a faulty elevator, Abigail is forced into emergency labour, leaving Dare with no choice but to deliver the baby himself.
Elevator Baby is written and directed by Akhigbe Ilozobhie, produced by Victoria Akujobi. Some of the cast include Toyin Abraham, Timini Egbuson, Yemi Solade, Broda Shaggi, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Shaffy Bello, Blessing Onwukwe, Emem Ufot and several other notable Nollywood stars.
The film will be in cinemas from October 11th.
Love Is War
Written by Chinaza Onuzo and directed by Omoni Oboli, the movie depicts the story of a couple running against each other for governor in the same state! Must watch, right?
Love Is War is a comedy-drama about love, ambition, family and chasing your dreams. The movie stars notable actors like Jide Kosoko, Akin Lewis, Bimbo Manuel, Toke Makinwa, Shaffy Bello, Femi Branch, Uzo Osimkpa, Yomi Black, Damilare Kuku, William Benson etc.
The movie is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
If your thing is romantic comedies, then Kasanova is a must-watch. The movie tells the story of Femi, a widower with a son who finds it difficult to get over his late wife and so in a bid to move on, he indulges in several uncommitted relationships.
Through his sons aspiration to do music, he falls in love with Jessica, a single mom who is preoccupied with her musical career and is impatient with her daughter Ini.
