After the tragedy that befell D’Banj a little over a year ago, it was with great joy that it was announced that the singer is expecting another child.
The announcement was made in an interview with thebeat fm London where D’Banj thanked fans for all their support so far and also thanked God for keeping him and giving him reasons to smile.
He also revealed that while there was therapy after the tragedy, he only attended it once as it was too painful to keep going.
He also explained how broken he was after the incident and how he never imagined he would ever lose a son.
The former Mo Hits singer has been a legend on the Nigerian music scene over the past decade and is credited with helping Nigerian music gain mass appeal in the outside world.
Produced Teebillz is of the opinion that it is because of songs such as ‘Oliver Twist’ that afrobeat has the appeal it has in the West.
“If not for Don Jazzy & D’Banj that created a tune titled “Oliver Twist” years back that draw the international attention to afrobeat, they won’t have been the noise about Afrobeat to the world” Teebillz said.
D’Banj has also recently been making waves on the film making front as he was recently cast in his first Nollywood role. The movie, called Sugar Rush, also stars Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Nkem Owoh, Zack Orji, Omoni Oboli, Toke Makinwa, Bisola Aiyeola, Tobi Bakre, Bimbo Ademoye, Adedimeji Lateef and is set for release later in the year.
Filmmaker Jadesola Osiberu announced the movie via her Instagram page posting a picture with the caption: “We are coming for all your coins this Christmas!! Sugar Rush isssa rush! We’re already cooking up 3 films to be shot 2020, so we can’t wait to end 2019 with a bang! Sugar Rush is a Co-production amongst Greoh Media, FilmOne, DKM Media and Jungle Filmworks.
