Davido to get a role in Coming to America 2

Davido has sold out concerts, toured with Chris Brown, performed at Idris Elba’s wedding and now he could be breaking into Hollywood with a role in Coming to America 2.

The singer, according to reports, could be slated for a performance role in the 2020 comedy.

The movie which will see Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones return to their iconic roles in the comedy while people like Wesley Snipes and Tracy Morgan will be joining the cast.

The movie, according to the synopsis follows former Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie Murphy) set to become the new King of Zamunda, who discovers that he has a long lost son in America whom he had never met. The son, a street savvy Queens native named Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler), is unknown Prince Akeem and Akeem’s father King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones) who wants to meet him. So, honoring his father’s dying request to groom this son as the crowned prince, Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) set off to America once again to find the long lost son.

Michael Blackson, who is also credited as a cast member said this on Twitter. He tweeted: “Davido told me he has a performance scene in the movie #ComingToAmerica2 congrats homie.”

Coming to America 2 will be directed by Craig Brewer, from a screenplay by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein, and Kenya Barris of Blackish fame.

 

There was a huge reaction to this with many Nigerians ecstatic at the new opportunity to showcase Nigeria to the rest of the world.

Hopefully we get more news about this as time goes on, but as far as we know, this is amazing news.
