Davido Dragged to Court Over Allegations Of Fraud

Nigerian singer Davido has been dragged before a magistrate Magistrate Court 2 Lagos State over an alleged fraud of N4, 000,000.00 (Four Million Naira).

According to reports, the Fall singer allegedly duped an up and coming singer Andre- Tejiri Ochuko Ibhihwiori of Always on Cash records of 4 million on the promise that Davido would feature on his song.

Reports indicate that the payment was made in January and that Davido is yet to honour the agreement or pay back the money.

The case was up for mentioning in court on 23rd of May, 2019 and on that day neither Davido nor any of his legal team was there to defend the matter.

According to LIB, Alabh George Turnah, (MON) who acted as counsel to the claimant informed the Court that OBO and his team refused to accept service of the originating processes and therefore he pleaded the Court for an order for substituted service, which the Court granted.

At the moment there has been nothing said about this case by Davido or his team, but it seems that this could be an ugly one if not addressed properly.

LIB reports that conversations with colleagues of the singer reveal that they are disappointed that he would be caught up in such a petty case such as this.

This case is a potential PR nightmare for Davido as he’s already catching heat in the public over a number of things. First there was heavy criticism of him over his behaviour when there were allegations that Wizkid had domestically abused his Babymama, allegations that were quickly debunked and there is also his absence from the Lion King Album which featured Wizkid, Yemi Aládé, Mr Eazi and Burna Boy.

It’d be interesting to see how the singer handles this and how it could potentially affect his image to the outside world.
