When Davido and Chris Brown announced that they would be collaborating on a song together, people were understandably excited.
When the final product came out, their excitement was justified as it turned out to be an amazing song that was yet another example of Nigeria’s growing influence on the music industry all over the world.
The song broke numerous milestones and continues to do so today with Radio Monitor ranking it as the most played song on Nigerian radio today.
The list also included, Burna Boy’s “Anybody”, Joeboy’s “Baby”, Mayorkun’s “True”, Beyonce and Wizkid’s “Brown Skin Girl”
The song has also deepened the relationship between Davido and Chris Brown with the latter even calling Davido his ‘Brother 4 life’
With the success of the song has also come some controversy with some commenters of the mind that the success of the song was more due to the presence of Chris Brown rather than Davido.
Multimedia sports Journalist Oma Akatugba took to his Twitter to say that when Breezy got on the song it really gave it another dimension.
“I just watched “blow my mind” video by Davido and Chris brown. The moment Chris brown entered, you just know the difference. Shoe really get size ooo.” he wrote on Twitter.
This of course stirred up a discussion with some seeing this as an attack on Davido’s abilities while others agreed with him.
“To praise a fellow Nigerian like u has become a big problem, this is why people like u will always worship foreigners cos u bliv we’re below dre standards…Pls go and format your brain cos Davido’s part is d best 💪” said a reply of someone who disagreed.
There were those who agreed with him, like this Twitter user who said: “Yeah bro. Chris brown gave the song another rythm immediately his voice entered d beat. Chris brown is the reason I listened to d song cos of his voice. Kudos to davido too for knowing who fits in to that song.”
