According to news making the rounds, Cardi B (born Belcalis Almanzar) has been indicted on multiple charges related to a brawl at Angels Strip Club in New York City in August of last year.
The 26-year-old rapper was previously facing misdemeanour charges for reckless endangerment and assault, but it looks like those charges were since updated on Friday, as she has been indicted on 14 charges, as well as two counts of felony – conspiracy, and harassment.
Cardi B was arrested in October for the fight, which was allegedly caused by the rapper accusing one of the bartenders, Jade, of having an affair with Cardi B’s husband Offset. Jade’s sister, Baddie Gi was also harmed in the altercation.
The Grammy award winner had previously rejected a plea deal from the Queens district attorney’s office. The deal would have seen her get a conditional discharge, escaping a prison sentence unless she committed a further offence.
Reports further claim that a surveillance video exists that shows Cardi B tossing an ice bucket at the sisters; while the rapper and her entourage were also accused of throwing chairs and bottles at the sisters.
The rapper is no stranger to controversy — she was involved in a fracas with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj at New York Fashion Week in September, later taking to Instagram to say that the older Minaj had questioned her parenting skills. She also had a “historic” fight with Asia Davies on an episode of “Love and Hip Hop: New York.”
The mother-of-one recently added the “Songwriter of the Year” award to her shelf at the 32nd annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards in Beverly Wilshire, Los Angeles. Cardi B’s arraignment will now take place on 25 June 2019 in Queens Criminal Court, New York, and the indictment will also be unsealed.
We will keep our eyes peeled for more information as the case unfolds. Stay with us for more updates.
