Andy Ruiz Promises to Take Down Anthony Joshua In Rematch

Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz

Following a shock defeat in June, Anthony Joshua would be hoping to get his belt back from Andy Ruiz, but the Mexican has said that this would not be happening.

The December date for the fight is drawing ever closer and the two have spoken about their aspirations for the fight.

Anthony Joshua exclusively spoke to Sky Sports and said that he will expose Ruiz before the world and that a “little blip should not change you as a person,”

He went on to say; “You should stay consistent with who you are.

“I can become familiar with him. I know what I’m in for. I know what I’m capable of. I know what he’s capable of.

“I know some of the attributes he possesses, and some of the weaknesses. I have to go about exposing him a little bit more.

“The first time I had him down [in the first fight], I could have been smarter. These little things you think about in your head.

“Now I meet him eye-to-eye again and, subconsciously, the clock is ticking and I start thinking more and more about the fight.”

Andy Ruiz though for his part has said the win was not a fluke and that he would be taking the IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO belts to Mexico with him.

He also added that while he considers Joshua a friend, all that goes out the window when the time comes to fight

“I respect Joshua. He is a good friend although he probably doesn’t like me now! But inside the ring there will be no respect, there will be no friends.” he said.

Andy Ruiz also doused rumors that he isn’t properly preparing for the fight stating during a press conference that he is still hungry.

“A lot of people are saying that I’m not training, that I’m not taking it serious. But come on – I’ve got all these belts. Like [Joshua] said, there’s a lot of responsibilities to this. But I’m gonna try my best, and God knows I’m gonna try my best, I’m gonna keep these belts, and I’m gonna have ‘em back in Mexico”

So we know for sure that December 7th is going to be a hell of a fight. Who are you rooting for to win?
