Nollywood Alive Trending Top Movies/Web Series Of The Week – November 25th

On this week’s list, we have new movies showing in cinemas across the nation and some Nollywood movies you might have missed at the time of release but now available on Netflix.

1. MOMS AT WAR


The Nollywood comedy-drama was directed by Omoni Oboli. It was released in 2018, now available on Netflix in case you missed it.

Starring Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele-Bello, Yul Edochie, Michelle Dede, Eucharia Anunobi.

 “It tells the story of two mothers leaving in the same neighbourhood competing for their children to stay the best at school and one of the mom had to also deal with marital issues.”

2. THE KING OF BOYS


This is another 2018 Nollywood action drama available on Netflix.

The movie received a series of awards and good reviews at the time it’s first release. Till date, it remains one of the most talked-about Nollywood drama.

The movie won the award of the 2018 Best Nigerian Film at AMA Awards, 2019.

“It tells the story of an ambitious and focused woman with an eye for politics. She got threatened and lost trust in the people around her, so, she got caught up in the game of trust that led to her ruthlessness.”

King Of Boys was directed by Kemi Adetiba starring Sola Sobowale, Illbliss, Adesua Etomi Wellington, Jide Kosoko.

The movie earned 245 million at the box office.

3. FARMING

It is an Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Nollywood movie released on October 25th, 2019 and now showing in select cinemas.

The Nollywood drama stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Late Beckinsale, Adewale Akinnuoye.

 “It tells the story of a young Nigerian boy sent to live with a British family by his parents so he can have a better future, instead, he became the leader of a feared gang.”

4. LIVING IN BONDAGE: BREAKING FREE


The Nollywood movie hassle surpassed foreign studios such as Disney, Paramount and the likes to become number one at the box office.

It made a total of 4.8 million naira the first week.

Directed by the Nollywood veteran actor, Ramsey Nouah starring Bob Manuel Dogwu, Chuks Chike, Swanky Jka and many others.

“It tells the story of a young man who is determined to make money and become wealthy at any cost. He was introduced to the leader of a cult forgetting that there are consequences.”

5. PHASES

Phases is an original Ndani series currently in its season’s finale.

“It is a very interesting series that explores the complexities of friendships and relationship. A young man is trying to find true love while he’s also trying to start up his life.”

6. UP NORTH


Up North is a 2018 Nollywood drama directed by Tope Oshin starring Bankole Wellington, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Hilda Dokubo, Rahama Sadau.

“It is the story of a young man birthed by a very wealthy father who allowed his father’s wealth to get into his head. His father found the perfect opportunity for his son to learn so he sent him off to Bauchi for the compulsory one year NYSC to help prepare him to take over his company”.

7. THE LAST TREE


The last tree is a new Nollywood drama directed by Shola Amoo starring Gbemisola Ikumelo, Layo Christina Akinlude, Nicholas Pinnock.

“It is a Nollywood drama shot in the UK which is centred around a Nigerian-Bri boy(Femi) who struggled to adapt to the culture of his environment.”

Showing in cinemas nationwide.

8. THE GHOST AND THE HOUSE OF TRUTH

Another thrilling Nollywood drama showing in cinemas nationwide.

The movie was directed by Akin Omotoso starring Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Late Henshaw, Susan Wokoma.

“A dedicated counsellor who reconciles victims with the criminals who perpetrated the crime and quite professional at her job is faced with the biggest test when her daughter goes missing.”

9. 21 BRIDGES

The movie is an action Hollywood movie starring Chadwick Boseman, J.K. Simmons, Sienna Miller.

“An NYPD detective took up an investigation to uncover a massive conspiracy that got his fellow officers linked with the same crime. He got confused as to which side to belong.

10. FROZEN II

The long-awaited second part of the Disney animated Hollywood movie is now showing in cinemas nationwide.

It was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee starring Evan Rachel-Wood, Kristen Bell and Jonathan Groff.

“Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven left Arendelle to travel to an ancient autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.”
